Well, she asked him right out if they'd been involved. He said no. (And that was the straightest damn answer he gave.) Then later she asked him if there had been an attraction. And he decided to be a smartass and said, "Why, are you attracted to me now?" Which, you know... is avoiding the question.
Definitely! But, see, talking her into doing that is kind of hard. Doing that to a suspect is one thing, but to someone you're rebuilding a friendship with? A whole other game.
